We put as much of an emphasis and importance on our services as much as we do on our refined gastronomy. Every day from your bed or the bathroom, you can see the white, sandy beaches facing the hotel. This is important because I want to make sure Vila Joya is even more exceptional and unique. Sometimes it was hard to obtain all the necessary ingredients, yet he was able to manage to take our local products and make something extraordinary with his talent coming from the north of Europe. Can you tell us about a hotel that you particularly appreciated? Close to the ocean and always sunny, it quickly became our summer house, but since it was much bigger for our small family of five, my mother had the idea to transform it into a hotel.
There are so many places and hotels in the world, but I would have to say the Como Shambala in Ubud, close to Bali. It was very hard to sustain the boutique hotel in the 1980s as time, electricity, water, and quality food products were never a guarantee a that time in Algarve. Located on the ground floor, this room opens out onto a private terrace and garden. Four years after and until 2011, Vila Joya was the only 2 Michelin star restaurant in Portugal. He obtained his first Michelin star in 1995. How would you describe your hotel in three words? A boutique hotel must have less than 30 bedrooms, with each one having a unique ambiance and charm.
I need to buy some things there but I also love to immerse myself in the different smells and colors. What are your projects for Vila Joya? Our life coaches employ purpose-driven conversations to inspire individuals to discover and take the steps necessary towards doing what they desire and being their persona best. At the beginning, Vila Joya consisted of only 13 bedrooms and a restaurant. Where is your next vacation going to be? When I was 26 years old, I took an active role at Vila Joya. . . .
